DOMESTIC VIOLENCE; The thin line between love and hate

First a serious disclaimer. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is considered a human rights violation and public health issue throughout the world. As currently indexed, violent crimes against intimate partners—current or former spouses, boyfriends, and girlfriends—are committed more frequently against women. These; lethal (homicide) and non-lethal (rape, assault) forms. However, abusive behaviors do not always involve tangible violence.  There is often emotional abuse of the word “Love”.

Oscar Wilde said, “Love is a misunderstanding between two fools”. A 1969 movie and many other people say, “Love is a funny thing”. There are as many meanings for love, as there are people in love. But for both men and women being in love can be a mixed bag of triumph and defeat. There is a thrill like never. You feel like you are floating then BOOM!  suddenly  love’s agony will bring a man to his knees.
